Beverly Hills – Rolling like a celebrity!

Heading to and from Beverly Hills for an almost-spur-of-the-moment date night, it’s hard not to have Weezer’s classic-and-catchy “Beverly Hills” playing on a constant loop in my head, interrupted only intermittently by the theme from “The Beverly Hillbillies” (“so they loaded up the truck, and they moved to Bev-er-ly … Hills, that is … swimming pools … moooo-vie stars”).  For sure, Beverly Hills occupies a unique place in American lore, the fabled pinnacle of celebrity, glamour, sun, and riches.  It’s a place my 12-year-old self could have hardly imagined visiting someday, much less being able to enjoy a fun date night with my bride.

So, when I found myself with a Hilton free weekend night certificate as a result of credit card spend, I set my sights on the new Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills.  I mentioned it to Philly here and there, and when we found availability at the Waldorf on an otherwise unremarkable weekend in February, it didn’t take much coaxing to persuade Philly to hop on a plane for a one-of-a-kind date night.

The trip was quick – we left Dallas around noon on Saturday, and we arrived back into DFW around 7:00 pm Sunday evening.  Flights were non-stop between DFW and LAX on American.  The only ground transportation we needed in LA was a taxi from LAX to the hotel, and an Uber back to the airport.
