Details of the Promotion
Hilton Honors is, hands down, the best hotel loyalty program in terms of running consistent, valuable promotions. Hilton’s most recent promotion that starts today, Moments Made Bigger, is no exception.
Moments Made Bigger runs from September 10, 2018, through January 3, 2019. Stays at certain Hilton portfolio properties that Hilton classifies as “Luxury & Resort” stays earn 3x base Hilton Honors points. Stays at all other Hilton portfolio properties earn 2x base points.
To get credit for the 3x/2x points for this promotion, you must complete your stay from September 10 through January 3, and register for the promotion before you complete your stay.
“Luxury & Resort” properties that earn 3x base points include all Waldorf Astoria and Conrad properties as well as a number of other higher-end Hilton properties. There are 274 specific properties that earn triple points, and you can view them through this link. If a property isn’t listed on that site, it only earns double points.
The 2x and 3x multipliers for this promotion apply only to base points – that is, the multipliers are applied before the bonus multipliers for elite status. Thus, earning of Hilton Honors points under this promotion will be as follows:

Analysis & Strategy
Hilton’s Moments Made Bigger promotion makes Hilton properties very attractive during the promotional period, compared to the other major chains. Hyatt’s current promotion is much weaker, and Marriott (including the former SPG properties) has no current promotion at all. [Update as of Sept 12: Marriott has now announced a new Megabonus promotion that begins on September 26. Except in very limited circumstances, the Hilton offer is still much more rewarding.]
To help you understand how many points you will earn under this Hilton promotion, we’ve prepared a chart that we hope you will find helpful. Points earning is broken down by the type of property and your Hilton Honors elite status level. Remember that you do not earn points on taxes, only the room rate and other incidental spend.
To possibly put it into better perspective, here’s the same chart – but instead of telling you how many points you’ll earn per dollar of spend, we’ve put it in terms of the value of the rebate you’ll receive in points, assuming a baseline value of 0.5 cents per Hilton Honors point:
The points rebate can be even higher if you pay for your stay with an Amex Hilton co-branded card. The Aspire card earns 14 points per dollar of Hilton spend (an additional 7% rebate in points at our baseline value of 0.5 cpp), and the Ascend card earns 12 points per dollar of Hilton spend (additional 6% rebate). Thus, if you have the Aspire card, which grants automatic Diamond status, you would earn a whopping 54 Hilton Honors points per dollar of Hilton spend, which at our 0.5 cpp baseline value amounts to a 27% points rebate!
You can sign up for Amex Hilton cards using our referral links:

[Update as of 9/11/2018: We have disabled our referral links for now, as the new public offers for these cards are better than our referral links.]
Alternatively, you might choose to stack your Hilton points earning with one of the current Amex offers for Hilton brands such as Embassy Suites/Homewood/Home2 Suites ($50 statement credit for $250 spend) or Hampton/Hilton Garden Inn ($30 statement credit for $175 spend) for increased savings.
In addition, this promotion should also stack with Hilton’s very generous current promotion with the Miles & More airline loyalty program. That promotion allows you to earn 2,500 Miles & More award miles with each Hilton stay, assuming that you register for the promotion and select Miles & More as your preferred earning partner in your Hilton Honors profile. (Miles & More includes these airlines: Lufthansa, Austrian, Brussels, Eurowings, Swiss, LOT Polish, Adria, Croatia, and Condor.) It runs through October 31, 2018.
The Hilton Honors Moments Made Bigger promotion (along with these other stacking opportunities) may very well be enough to persuade you to shift stays to Hilton properties for the next few months. For paid stays while the promotion is running, it’s hard to beat Hilton.
