Headed to Austin City Limits? Be Sure to Use Your American Express Benefits!

For the next two weekends, Austin hosts the famed Austin City Limits (ACL) music festival.  The festival draws hundreds of thousands of music-lovers to the capital city of Texas for days of top-quality entertainment. Acts at ACL this year include Sir Paul McCartney, Metallica, Travis Scott, the Arctic Monkeys, Khalid, Shawn Mendes, Camila Cabello, David Byrne, and many, many others.  Childish Gambino was originally booked for ACL but unfortunately had to cancel his performance because of a recent injury.

American Express is the Official Card of ACL.  As part of its sponsorship, Amex is offering some nice benefits to Amex cardholders who are attending the festival.  If you’re headed to ACL, be sure to activate and use your card benefits!

ACL Benefits for Amex Cardholders

The nicest Amex benefit seems to be the American Express Card Member Club.  This Club will be located on the second floor of the “American Express Experience,” located near the main stage in the general admission area.  The Card Member Club will include an Amex-and-cash-only bar, complimentary wi-fi, charging stations, and direct sightlines to the main stage.  It appears that an Amex cardholder can also bring one guest into the Club.

Perhaps most importantly, the American Express Card Member Club and the rest of the American Express Experience are air-conditioned!  High temperatures in Austin this weekend are expected to be in the high 80’s and possibly up to 90 degrees.  Next weekend is a little better with high temperatures expected to be around 80.

In addition, Amex cardholders can receive a one-time $5 cashless spend credit if they enroll their wristband in ACL Cashless.  Cardholders can also access the American Express Cashless Entrance, which is located at the Barton Springs West Entrance.  The Amex promotional materials say that Amex cardholders can enter “with your crew” at this special entrance.  Finally, Amex cardholders can pick up a complimentary patch at the designated station on the first floor of the “American Express Experience.”

The ACL benefits are available to all American Express cardholders, regardless of the type of card.

To get access to the Amex benefits at ACL, cardholders must enroll their wristband.  You can do this when you go to https://www.aclfestival.com/wristband/ to activate your festival ticket.  During activation, you can link your Amex card to your wristband and set a PIN for security.  All of your Amex ACL benefits will be automatically loaded to your wristband once you register with your Amex card.

Non-Cardholders Can Also Visit the “American Express Experience”

Even if you’re not an Amex cardholder, you can visit the “American Express Experience.”  Perhaps most importantly, Amex says that the Experience venue will have charging stations.  It also says it will have “cool giveaways” and “photo-worthy moments” at the American Express Experience.  But as we mentioned above, perhaps the most valuable benefit of the Experience will be the air conditioning.
