Cheers from London! Middle Age Miles is across the pond, and we’re taking notes to give you a good trip review when we return from London. Hopefully we can provide you with tips to help make your next adventure to London easier and more enjoyable.
So far, we’ve been staying at the Wellesley Knightsbridge, a SPG Luxury Collection Hotel that will be moving up to Marriott Category 8 in 2019. We did this all on Marriott Rewards points, spending not a dime out of pocket, and we did it for far fewer points than it will take next year. With the lofty Category 8 classification coming, it’s supposed to be top-of-the-line – but what will we have to say in our review?
We’ve spend time wandering through Mayfair, Knightsbridge, and other parts of London. We’ve visited the Hyde Park Winter Wonderland and another smaller Christmas market in Leicester Square. We traveled to the city of Leicester on Saturday to see our first-ever Premier League match, Leicester City versus Watford. We spent several hours browsing the many shops and market stalls in Camden Town. We made a day trip to Windsor today. And we’ve managed several other activities as well. It’s been a good trip so far.
Tomorrow we change hotels to the Shangri-La at the Shard – a unique and iconic aspirational hotel if ever there was one. The Shangri-La was booked on a special American Bar Association rate that saved us 40-50% versus the lowest publicly-available rates on our dates. We’re really looking forward to that one and can’t wait to report back to you! We also have plenty of other activities in store for the rest of the week, which we’ll also include in our Trip Report.
Most importantly for now, though, our week in London means that you won’t see many new articles this week. We’re keeping apprised of the major news, like American Express’ announcement today about changes to the Business Platinum card in early 2019. But for now, we’re mostly going to enjoy our time away and report back later.
Best wishes to everyone for a great week!
