For our money, the great deal here is the Choice hotel family, including the nicer Cambria and Ascend Collection hotels, at 14% cash back. There are also several car rental options for 14% cash back.

Keep in mind that you will earn Choice Privilege points and elite night/stay credit when you go through the Ebates portal, because ultimately you’re booking direct through Choice. Most rates bookable on Choice are eligible for this cash back deal, including AAA rates – but Employee, Friends & Family, VIP, or Preferred Corporate rates are not eligible.
Special Note on the Ascend Collection and One Really Cool-Looking Hotel, the Yellowstone Valley Lodge
We find the Ascend Collection of hotels particularly interesting. It’s a collection of boutique-type hotels, akin to the Autograph Collection or Design Hotels within the Marriott portfolio, yet usually more modestly priced.
And just for fun this morning, we picked out an Ascend Collection hotel that looks very cool to us – the Yellowstone Valley Lodge in Livingston, Montana. (Here’s another link to the home page for the Yellowstone Valley Lodge (not the Choice/Ascend page).)
Yellowstone Valley Lodge is on US Highway 89, about 35-40 miles from the North entrance to Yellowstone National Park, and about 50 miles from the nearest airport in Bozeman. It sits on the banks of the Yellowstone River. The tranquility of the river and the great views of the neighboring mountains look fabulous.
Yellowstone Valley Lodge is open seasonally from mid-April through mid-October. It looks like its standard award redemption is 25,000 Choice Privileges points, and it seems that this could be a very good redemption in-season. Middle Age Miles certainly wouldn’t mind spending a few nights at the Yellowstone Valley Lodge!
Rental Car Deals
Ebates also has 14% cash back today when you book car rentals from several name-brand companies:

- Dollar
- Thrifty
In addition, car rentals will earn 14% cash back today through Ebates when booked with several online travel agencies (OTAs):
- Cheap Tickets
- Orbitz
- Travelocity
Note that other services booked through these OTAs today, such as flights and hotels, do not earn 14%. It’s just for car rentals.
And as always, be sure to compare prices (and other portal deals) to make sure you’re getting the best deal on your rental cars!
Ebates Hotels
Finally, hotel bookings through Ebates Hotels today also earn 14% cash back. We’ve never used Ebates Hotels personally. Perhaps there are great deals to be discovered there, but remember that (a) you won’t receive loyalty program points, elite night/stay credits or elite benefits when you book through a third-party like Ebates Hotels; and (b) you should always check other discounted-rate options to make sure you’re getting the best deal on your hotel bookings.
Other Merchants
There are also many non-travel merchants with great 14% cash-back rates at Ebates today, including JCPenney, Saks Fifth Avenue, Dick’s Sporting Goods, American Eagle Outfitters, Ulta Beauty, Barneys New York, Moosejaw, Finish Line, Kiehl’s, Ann Taylor, The Container Store, Pier 1, Shoes.com, and many, many others!
