As regular Middle Age Miles readers know, I recently upgraded an Amex Hilton Ascend card (now known as the Surpass card) to the premium Amex Hilton Aspire:
- Middle Age Miles: Successful Upgrade – Amex Hilton Ascend to Aspire with 150k Point Bonus! Breaking Down the Offer and What to Expect (June 9, 2019)
Unfortunately, the upgrade offer expired last week, but I know that many people took advantage of it while it was alive. Hopefully we’ll see more upgrade offers like this from Amex soon!
The Ascend-to-Aspire upgrade offer was for 150,000 Hilton Honors points when you spend $4,000 within the first 3 months after upgrading. At our baseline value of 0.5 cents per Hilton point, the bonus points are worth about $750.
We recently completed the spend and received our bonus, so we thought a quick data point on how fast the bonus points post was in order.
In short, the news is great – the bonus points post very quickly. We made the purchase that put us over the $4,000 spend threshold on Friday, July 19. The bonus points posted to our Hilton Honors account just 4 days later on Tuesday, July 23.
Note that our statement did not close before the bonus points posted.
This is not a surprising data point, as Amex generally posts sign-up and upgrade bonuses right away. And in this specific instance, for those who want to use their bonus points from the Aspire upgrade offer quickly, things could hardly be better. Thank you, Amex and Hilton.
