Over the past few years, Twitter has taken on increased importance in the travel world.  All of the major airlines, hotel chains, car rental companies, credit card issuers, and many other travel-related companies have established Twitter handles.  Most can provide some customer service through direct messaging on Twitter.  This is particularly true for discrete requests that can be accurately described in a sentence or two.  It can also be especially helpful when things go wrong during travel and something needs to be adjusted along the way.
